'Untitled' (2016-2023) by Iliodora Margellos is driven by a compass of primal rhythm. Suspended from the ceiling of the retro-futuristic environment of the dyeing facility, the work celebrates the diversity of woven materials and the vibrancy of colors, a principal characteristic of this particular space. Reminiscent of a sectioned umbilical cord or even an abstract rendition of an Einsteinian wormhole*, the structure toys with notions of disconnection and reconnection, taking into account aspects of interiority and exteriority. The biomorphic appearance and the transparency of the work trick the eye with visual discontinuities and become the tools for experiencing a looming futurity that casts that casts upon the present. The sub-universe of Margellos resounds conflicts of materiality with a process of scrutinizing the endurance of size and space.

* A wormhole is a hypothetical structure connecting disparate points in spacetime, and is based on a special solution of the Einstein field equations. A wormhole can be visualized as a tunnel with two ends at separate points in spacetime.
